What is RaceDayReady?
RaceDayReady is a web-based platform for endurance athletes to build and manage their training plan.
RDR is packed with features like:
- Race-focused planning that actively adapts to your goals and training performance
- Rich tools to build workouts for Garmin, Zwift, and more
- Seamless syncing with Garmin, Strava, and more

One of my favorite features is the ability to create workouts by describing exactly what you want.
Why I built RDR
In 2022, I did my first Ironman, Ironman Canada. I followed a traditional 20 weeks to Ironman training plan. I finished the race, but wasn't happy with my results and overall time - 13:46:31 (plus a trip to the medical tent). This was my first experience with a serious training plan and I was disappointed at how rigid and inflexible it was.
Last year I set off to do my second Ironman, Ironman California. This time around, I didn't follow a traditional training plan. I wanted to see what AI could do for me.
I used ChatGPT, Claude, Google Sheets, and even compared notes with my wife's workouts from her human coach. Through all of it, I found many holes in the training plan I built:
- AI models simply couldn't manage a high quality, long-term plan
- Syncing to my devices (Garmin, Zwift) was clunky and required a lot of manual work
- Standard “X weeks to Ironman” plans were too rigid and don't take life's surprises into account
Nonetheless, the training wasn't perfect, but it got me a 2hr+ personal best Ironman time.

This was my second Ironman finish, finishing in 11:27:51.
Filling in the Gaps
My success motivated me to smooth these gaps over. I started working on a web app with a few specific features:
- Race-focused planning that worked backwards from my race goals, to escape the rigid “X weeks to race” type of plans
- Week-focused planning and specific workout building tools, as AI is really good at this
- Seamless syncing to Garmin, Zwift, and more
RaceDayReady is the culmination of these features and more. And thanks to 100+ beta users, I'm confident it's ready to help anyone build their best training plan.
Where RaceDayReady is going
This launch is the starting line. I'm trying to build the best platform for managing an endurance training plan. Some things coming soon:
- Advanced tools, like planning CTL (cumulative training load), ATL (acute training load) and TSB (training stress balance)
- Rest and recovery planning, incorporating HRV, sleep data and more into your plan
- More 3rd party integrations. Got a specific one you want to see? Let me know!
And much more.
Give it a Try
If you're training for an upcoming race or you just want a plan to stay consistent, check it out.
Thanks for being part of the early journey. Feedback is always welcome, and I'm excited to keep building RDR.
